general submissions guidelines

Fiction (7.7.23 – 9.7.23)

Writers ages 18+ may submit 1-3 original, unpublished short stories of no more than 20 pages in a single .doc file, double-spaced, 12-point font to theevermorereview@gmail.com. Please include a brief author bio within the body of the email.

Poetry (7.7.23 – 8.7.23)

Submit 1-3 poems up to 3 pages in length per poem in a single .doc file, double-spaced, 12-point font to theevermorereview@gmail.com. We prefer uncentered poetry but will reconsider if it is artistically justified.

NOTE: Since the evermore review publishes mainly fiction, we will only publish a few poetry pieces per issue. Fiction pieces published will outnumber poetry.

the evermore review is NOT a fan journal nor do all short fiction stories have to be strictly about evermore or even Taylor Swift-related; as long as the essence of evermore is present, we welcome the piece for submission (think Dead Poets Society, Twilight, Knives Out, and Little Women).

Themes that are present in evermore include but not limited to:

  • Losing power and/or regaining it
  • Finding hope after struggling for so long
  • Making difficult decisions for one’s future
  • Facing betrayal
  • Stories containing dark themes with a hint of hope or hope with a hint of darkness

Genre fiction is not only accepted but strongly encouraged!!!

Dark, disturbing themes and events are allowed and encouraged, but stories depicting graphic scenes of sexual assault and nudity will not be considered.

author rights

the evermore review requires first serial rights and electronic rights. Submissions must not have been previously published. They may be previously featured on personal blogs such as tumblr but must be deleted upon acceptance. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please email oliviatheevermorereview@gmail.com immediately if your submission is accepted elsewhere. We will contact you about minor edits if your piece is accepted. Please credit the evermore review as first publisher when you republish pieces that originated from us.

Currently, we do not offer payment for accepted pieces, but we hope to do so in the future!
